Village Ranshi, which is the base to trek to Madmaheshwar, is about 250 Kms from Rishikesh. This trek is a lifelong memorable with beautiful green valley providing views of with many glittering glaciers and snow capped peaks of Chaukhamba, Neel Kanth and Kedarnath in Higher Himalayan ranges. Madmaheshwar temple was built about 1500 years ago and is an ever older temple. The base of this trek to Madmaheshwar is at Village Ranshi which is about 250 Kms from Rishikesh and the route goest past towns of Devprayag – Srinagar – Rudraprayag – Ukhimath. It is from here that the 16 km trek begins with a 6 Km descent to Village Gaundhar, 2 Kms of flat terrain till Village Bantoli and then the 8 Km gradual ascent to Madmaheshwar. The trek passes through small villages and the entire trail is lined by thick forest cover of Oak and Deodar trees and offers views of majestic Himalayas.
