Madmaheshwar is a quaint little holy town named after the sacred Madhyamaheshwar Temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is the fourth Kedar in the panch kedar pilgrimage circuit. Madhmaheshwar is a quiet little hamlet situated at an altitude of 3265 meters is the part of Kedarnath wildlife sancturary and the temple during summers and remains closed during winder months from November till April due to heavy snowfall, the opening and closing dates are decided by pujaris. The trek to Madmaheshwar is graded as a moderate trek as one has to trek 16 Kms from village Ranshi on a well laid trail and passing by small villages of Gaundhar, Bantoli and Nano. Village Ranshi, which is the base to trek to Madmaheshwar, is about 250 Kms from Rishikesh. This trek is a lifelong memorable with beautiful green valley providing views of with many glittering glaciers and snow capped peaks of Chaukhamba, Neel Kanth and Kedarnath in Higher Himalayan ranges. The entire region seems to be blessed with rich flora and fauna and boasts of being the home to abundance of wildlife and some endangered species like the Himalayan Musk Dear and Himalayan Monal Pheasant.

Madmaheshwar temple was built about 1500 years ago and is an ever older temple. The base of this trek to Madmaheshwar is at Village Ranshi which is about 250 Kms from Rishikesh and the route goest past towns of Devprayag β Srinagar β Rudraprayag - Ukhimath. It is from here that the 16 km trek begins with a 6 Km descent to Village Gaundhar, 2 Kms of flat terrain till Village Bantoli and then the 8 Km gradual ascent to Madmaheshwar. The trek passes through small villages and the entire trail is lined by thick forest cover of Oak and Deodar trees and offers views of majestic Himalayas.

Day 1 : Rishikesh to Village Ranshi - Gaundhar
The trip starts with early morning drive from Rishikesh to Village Ranshi via Devprayag β Srinagar- Rudraprayag and Ukhimath. On arrival at Village Ranshi itβs time to spend some relaxed moments before you embark on the 6 kms trek downhill to Village Gaundhar which is our camping location for tonight. On reaching Village Gaundhar we pitch our tents and its time to enjoy the evening. Stay overnight in Village Gaundhar
Day 2 : Village Gaundhar - Madmaheshwar
It is time to rise early to get a head start as it is going to be a long day with lot of walking, first 2 kms is a flat trail till Village Bantoli and from here the 8 Km gradual ascent begins which takes you to Madmaheshwar. The route is well laid and offer great views of the mighty Himalayas. On arrival at Madmaheshwar we pitch our tents, visit the temple and its time to enjoy the evening. Stay overnight in Madmaheshwar.
Day 3 : Madmaheshwar - Village Gaundhar
Wake up as it is time to pay respects at the Holy Temple; spend some priceless moments in the lap of nature and later descent downhill to Village Gaundhar where we pitch our tents for overnight stay. Stay overnight in Village Gaundhar.
Day 4 : Village Gaundhar - Village Ranshi - Rishikesh
Its time to head back home with fond memories of this wonderful tour, Walk uphill to Village Ranshi and take the drive back to Rishikesh on the same route or via Gopeshwar, Chopta, Rudraprayag, Devprayag
